Day 047 – The role of curiosity in change processes

I have thought for a long time about how curiosity supports change processes and change processes (rather like travel) offer a natural opportunity to practice curiosity. It’s no surprise, though, that Otto Scharmer says it better:

“There are two ways to respond to a moment of disruption. One is by opening up, embracing the unknown [sounds like curiosity to me], and connecting with the emerging future. The other is by closing down and holding on to the patterns of the past, disconnecting ourselves from the emerging future. The first one is PRESENCING, and the other is ABSENCING”.
