Day 106 – Exploring feelings again

One thing I’ve known a long time about regular practice is that you can be doing an exercise you’ve done many times before and suddenly become aware of something new. In this case, I was doing the exploring feelings exercise (at 4 a.m. – I don’t always sleep well when I’m delivering a course like this – too much on my mind) when I realized that there isn’t always just one feeling to explore. This morning I was aware of some anxiety in the pit of my stomach, but it was cocooned in a stronger feeling of comfort. In spite of the anxiety, I was leaning into the pleasure of a warm bed with crisp sheets in a quiet room. Two feelings in one. (Nice for me that the more pleasant one was winning out.)
