You know what’s fun, and funny? Having breakfast with friends who read your blog and know you’re doing a 10-day Inquiry challenge. They can really hold you accountable, which is helpful. What I found, though, is that I still didn’t practice much Inquiry with a capital “I” this morning.
We talked about all manner of things, not all of which we agreed on, and listened and communicated and tried to understand the other points of view. “Tried to” in this case is really the right expression for me. What I felt very clearly this morning is that no matter how much you care about someone and want to understand you can’t always get a glimpse of how they see a situation. You cannot, as the Italian expression goes, feel it on your own skin. And I’m not sure practicing more structured Inquiry can help with that.
